Ready to Read Phonics Plus Supporting Games

Ready to Read Phonics Plus includes a games pack designed to provide opportunities for students to practice the skills you have already explicitly taught – skills such as decoding and blending.

The games also provide opportunities to consolidate the sound-letter relationships learned in the Kākano | Seed and Tupu | Seedling phases of the Ready to Read Phonics Plus Scope and Sequence.

 The games pack includes:

• Matching Pairs cards
• Snap cards
• Bingo boards and tiles.

4. Matching pairs game which includes 116 playing cards and 2 instruction cards - 1 for Matching Pairs and 1 for Go Fish. There are 4 sets of 29 matching cards. They can be sorted and played as Kākano groups 1, 2, or 3, or played as one large set. There are images on the bottom right-hand corner to help with sorting the cards into groups.

6. Bingo game with words made using Kākano graphemes and introducing Tupu 1 consonant patterns –ff, -ll, -ss, -zz, x, -tch, qu, wh, -dge as well as intial blends like cr and end blends like –st.
